Long service medal petition
Dear community member.
Firstly, thank you for supporting your local policing team by following us on our social media and Neighbourhood Link channels – it's vital that we are able to hear what you think about local policing issues and that we can feed back what we are doing in our local communities.
One of the key components of your local policing teams are the Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) who provide vital community patrol, Anti-Social Behaviour and problem-solving activity, and have done so diligently in this force since 2003. You may not be aware that PCSOs, despite their excellence in service to our communities (and unlike their police officer colleagues) do not currently receive a long service medal issued on behalf of HM King Charles III. For police officers this takes place at the 20-year service point and we believe that PCSOs deserve the same recognition for their dedication to the public.
For this reason, two of our longest-service PCSOs, Jo Burton and Pete Smith from the West Leicester policing team, have created a petition on the UK Government portal asking for the same consideration. If this is something that you would like to support, please consider filling out the petition on this link https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/701023
Thank you for your support
